It probably does feel great for the dance-pop trio (Matthew Russell, Trevor Dahl and KEVI) to have a track with Fetty Wap, but listening to the song will make listeners cheery, too. The song begins with Fetty's now-famous “Yeah” before he dives into the verse: “Growing up in the golden age/ Throwing rocks at your window pane/Kiss me once and I'll float away/ But that ain't me anymore/ I don't mind if I sell my soul/ To get a song on the radio.”
The chorus asks, “Do you remember how it feels to be young? Do you remember we could be anyone?”
Answer? “Feels great, motherfucka.”
The record is Cheat Codes' “version of a John Hughes movie in song form,” the group says in a statement. “Everybody loves to look back at the glory days, but being young is just a state of mind. Fetty joining us on this song is the icing on the cake. We're label partners with him and we played a show with him in Texas a few months back. This dude always has a smile on his face, so when we originally had the demo of the song we immediately thought he'd be perfect on it.”
